How To Make A Big Impact On The World Around You

In my blog series about Random Acts Of Kindness, I wrote about how small, simple acts of kindness can positively impact people’s lives. These acts of kindness can truly brighten their day and let them know that someone cares about them. For this blog post, I would like to discuss ways to give back to your community and share kindness with others in ways that involve a little more effort. You can significantly impact the world around you if you have the time, money, or other resources to give. So, let’s explore some of the larger scale Random Acts of Kindness that significantly impact the world around you!

Start Or Participate In A Fundraiser

There are so many people in need. Whether you know individuals who have fallen on hard times and could use some financial donations, or it’s a cause, charity, or ministry that is meaningful to you. Follow your heart and donate what you can. If you know of a family who experienced a fire, a natural disaster, or health crisis, start a fundraiser to assist with meeting their needs. You could set up an online donation site, such as GoFundMe. There are also several alternative crowdfunding sites that offer a variety of features. You can collect food and supplies and donate them to a local shelter or food pantry. Share about the fundraiser with your church, office, and on your social media. The more people you can get involved, the more significant a difference this can make to the recipients. Your fundraiser may reach a national level, depending on your resources and public interest.

Create A Foundation Or Nonprofit

Another way to make an impact on a larger scale is to set up a charitable foundation or nonprofit organization. If you have a particular cause that you want to help in a tremendous way, this could impact many lives. You would likely need a large amount of money to get set up. You may also need the help of experts such as financial advisors and lawyers. It is also possible that you may be able to obtain a grant or have other funding to help you offset the costs. It may be easier than you think to make it happen, but you would need to do research.

Participate In Philanthropy

You don’t have to donate a lot of money to make a significant impact. Donating your time can make a difference, too. Volunteering is something you can do in your free time. You can do it individually or on a more significant level by gathering others to volunteer with you. An example of this is Habitat For Humanity. This is an excellent opportunity for groups to help build a new home for a family in need. Imagine how wonderful it would be to know that you helped provide shelter and a home that many generations will come to. You don’t have to be highly skilled in construction to volunteer with Habitat For Humanity. Even lending some basic clean-up and painting skills or yard work are always needed. Another example is to volunteer at a soup kitchen or shelter. This is a great way to serve your community and get to know others.

If you’ve ever felt the nudge in your heart to help people and make a significant impact on many lives, these are just a few ideas. There are countless ways you can do it. So be on the lookout to fill a need as you see them come up. In the meantime, you can always check with your town or city on ways you can help volunteer!
